The Board of Governors established the Columba College Charitable Trust in 1990 to provide a vehicle which would help to safeguard and enhance Columba financially in the future and to assist individuals or groups wishing to make donations to the College for various purposes.

Since its establishment, the trust has made regular grants to the library and Music Department (from the library and Music Endowment Fund established at the time of the 75th Jubilee in 1990), disbursed monies in the form of Scholarships and financially supported the significant costs involved in obtaining resource consent to build the Sports Centre.

Funds currently invested in the Trust are grouped under categories such as General Building Development Fund, library and Music Endowment Fund, Scholarships and Prize Funds.

The Trust is registered under the terms of the Charitable Trusts Act and, as such, within the limitations imposed, donations to the Columba College Charitable Trust are tax deductible.

Under the terms of the Trust Deed, the trust is managed by a Board comprising the Chairman of the Board of Governors, two further members of the Board of Governors and the Principal of the College.

The Trust has been encouraged by supporters who have inquired about making provision for the College in their wills. Bequests may be made in a variety of ways. For example:

a) the sum of $ …………. or
b) the following items of property ………… upon trust for Columba College for the benefit of the pupils
you will be contributing towards the College’s challenge to provide a foundation to respond to the changing needs of the years ahead.

Membership in the case of individuals shall be for life, and shall be extended to all such individuals who make donations to the Trust.

Donations may be paid in one-off amounts or over specified periods by way of cheque or bank authority, or made as indicated above.
